Hacienda CycleFest at Westworld
Darin, Brian and I attended Hacienda's CycleFest over the weekend.
Two full days of sun shine, cruisers, sport bikes and BBQ. While we
were there, we had the privilege of test riding some kick-ass bikes.
The
Ducatti 748 and 996 (we rode the Buells too, but those were junk).
The motorcycle representatives would take a group of riders out for about
fifteen to twenty minutes several times a day. We would ride around
the area staying behind the lead bike. Every now and then, when no
other traffic was around, the lead bike would slow way down and then jump
on the throttle, Oh man... good stuff!
The last two pictures, on this page, may very well represent my next
motorcycle. I have discovered that a cruiser style bike can be
customized and personalized to a much greater degree than a sport
bike. While the ride is more exhilarating on a sport bike, I think I
am ready to get into the project and customization side of
motorcycles. There is one problem though. The two bikes
pictured average about twenty eight thousand dollars each. As Shane,
Brian, Emo and Murray will attest to, I would have no problem starting
with a frame, finding a motor, and other necessary parts, and get in way
over my head. We'll just have to see.
Once again I am begging to become an example of how not to treat your
skin. If any organization is testing a cure for melanoma, I may be
first in line if I don't wise up and use some sun screen. The
problem is that the sun here is a lot more intense than what it was in
Spokane. You can get a damn sun burn checking your mail here.
I am looking forward to having Brian and Vicki down for a visit later
this month. You can bet that I will have lots of stories and
pictures for the site. Maybe I should practice my karaoke before I
they get here?
